Customs (Import Duties and Taxes)
What is customs?
Customs is a government department that processes imported goods and collects import-related charges. These charges are paid to your country’s government, not to Blackship. Blackship cannot control how long a package takes in customs or how much customs charges you.
How much customs tax do I have to pay? Is it included in the shipping fee?
Import duties and taxes are not included in Blackship shipping charges. As the importer, you are fully responsible for any customs tax or duty charged by your country.
Because we ship to around 150 countries and customs rules change frequently, we are not able to provide country-specific customs guidance. If you have questions about your country’s rules, we recommend contacting your local customs office before shipping.
What happens if I refuse to pay?
If you refuse to pay, your package will either be returned to us or destroyed by your local customs office. If the package is returned to us, you will be responsible for the return shipping cost.
How can I estimate customs taxes in my country?
We recommend contacting your local customs office. Explain what you are purchasing and provide the approximate purchase price. A customs agent should be able to give you an estimate of the taxes you may owe when your package arrives.
