How to Use the 2-Step Check Out (Pack/Consolidate & Hold)

Edited

Ever needed a moment to pause before your package ships from Blackship? With our 2-Step Check Out, you can put your shipment on hold right after packing or consolidation! This feature gives you the flexibility to decide exactly when you are ready for us to send your package your way.

Why Choose 2-Step Check Out?

  • Understand Your Package Better: Discover your package's precise size and weight before committing to a final shipping method. While you will initially select a shipping method during checkout to indicate your preference, this choice isn't final. You have the flexibility to change it based on the package's finalized details.

  • Total Control and Flexibility: This process grants you unparalleled control over your shipping decisions, ensuring your package only moves forward when you are completely ready and satisfied.

  • Flexible Shipping Schedule: Once your package is packed or consolidated, we provide an additional 7 days of complimentary storage in our warehouse. This lets you make your final shipping decisions at your leisure, eliminating any pressure to rush.

How to Use 2-Step Check Out

When you proceed to ship your package, you will see a new option during the checkout process:

  1. Select the package(s) you would like us to pack or consolidate.

  1. Select "Consolidate & Hold" for the shipment method.

  1. Continue the request as normal.

Note: Opting for "Consolidate & Hold" means our warehouse team will pack your items and then wait for your final approval. Once notified, you can instruct us to either ship the package or dispose of it.

What Can I Expect When My Package Is "Ready to Ship"?

Once our team has finished preparing your package, you will receive an email notification letting you know it is ready.

At this point, you should log back into your account to review the final package dimensions, weight, and exact shipping fee. You can then initiate the final shipment or select a new shipping method. Your extra 7 days of free storage begins at this stage!

Important Notes for Prepared Packages:

  • Extra Services: Requesting additional services after this 2-step preparation stage may incur fees, which our team handles on a case-by-case basis.

  • Changing Shipping Methods: While you can change your shipping method at this final stage, we generally recommend against it to prevent delays. If a change is absolutely necessary, we may need to reinspect or repack your package to ensure it meets the new carrier's specific size and weight requirements.
