How Cash on Delivery (COD) Works at Blackship

We gladly accept Cash on Delivery (COD / 代引き) shipments at our warehouse. You will be prompted to approve or decline our COD terms when you first log in to your Blackship account. If you accept these terms, we will pay the delivery driver on your behalf and securely receive the package into your mailbox.

Blackship will charge your default payment method for the original COD amount. We also apply a 5% processing fee based on the COD amount, alongside a flat $12.00 service fee. These fees are converted to your account's currency.

For example, a $100 COD payment would incur $17 in fees. This is calculated as 5% of $100 plus the $12 flat fee. You can easily estimate your total costs using the COD Calculator located on your Blackship dashboard.

Please ensure you have a valid payment method on file and have accepted our COD terms before the package is shipped to us. We will automatically charge your default payment method for the package cost and the associated service fees as soon as your package arrives at our warehouse.

Once the payment has been successfully charged to your payment method on file, we will accept the package from the courier and send you a notification email once the package is added to your Blackship mailbox.

We will have to reject the package at the door and contact you immediately if your payment fails and your package will be sent back with the courier until a valid payment method is added to your account.

Once you have updated your payment method and informed us, the package will then be rescheduled for another delivery attempt.

The courier will only hold the package for between 5-7 business days before returning the package to the store if you do not resolve the payment within this timeframe. This will likely cause the store to ban your personal account. We will suspend your Blackship account if this situation occurs to protect our warehouse address from being blacklisted by Japanese retailers.

Blackship cannot facilitate Bank Transfer, Convenience Store, or Post Office payments. Please use our sister service, Japan Rabbit, if you need to purchase from a store that only accepts those specific payment methods.
