What Is a Shipping Note?

A Shipping Note is a space where you can leave additional comments or preferences about how your package should be packed or shipped.

Shipping Notes are visible only to our packing team. All notes are reviewed, and we will accommodate requests that fall within our scope of service. If a request cannot be fulfilled, we will proceed with packing and shipping without contacting you.

Shipping Notes are considered suggestions, not guaranteed instructions.


Where to Add a Shipping Note

You can add a Shipping Note at Step 3 of the packing checkout process, at the bottom of the Add-Ons section:


Important Information

Our team always packs items safely and efficiently using professional judgment and appropriate materials. While we consider your preferences, we may need to use our discretion to ensure your shipment is secure and compliant with carrier requirements.

Please note:

  • Shipping Notes are not guaranteed instructions.

  • If a request is outside our service scope, we will proceed without notification.

  • Requests that require additional labor or handling may incur extra fees.

For highly specific packing requests that require extra time or resources, we offer special handling services at an additional cost. Please contact us at help@blackship.com before submitting such requests.


Examples of Requests We Can Accept

  • Dispose of specific items inside a package (read more)

  • Schedule a delivery date/time for domestic Sagawa shipments

  • Simple packing preferences (e.g., remove the original box of one item to save space)

  • Preference for a specific shipping method (e.g., requesting Seamail if not shown at checkout — we will attempt to meet size requirements but cannot guarantee eligibility)

  • Notifying us about additional shipping documents after being instructed by customer support

  • Notes specifically requested by our customer support team


Examples of Requests We Cannot Accept

  • Splitting items within a package (please submit a separate Split request)

  • Taking additional photos (please submit a separate Photo request)

  • Declaring items as manufactured in a specific country

  • Specifying exact packing materials or complex packing instructions

  • Requests to pack within a fixed shipping price limit

  • Requesting a specific box size (we may try to fit carrier size limits but cannot guarantee a particular box)

  • Shipping using your own label

  • Communicating directly with the carrier on your behalf*

  • Adding address information that does not fit within the address fields

  • Any request outside our scope of services

* In certain situations (such as export documentation requests after shipment), we may be able to assist. Please contact customer support first for guidance.
