Fabric Composition Requirement

Starting November 12, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has enforced stricter standards for merchandise descriptions - especially for items that contain fabric such as plush toys, keychains, clothing, towels, and similar goods.

To help ensure your package clears customs smoothly, accurate material information is required when completing your customs declaration.

What You Need to Do

If your item contains fabric:

  • Select “This Item Contains Fabric” if applicable.

  • Provide the exact material composition in the customs description field.

Material composition should include the specific percentages when possible (for example: 70% cotton, 30% polyester).

Providing accurate information helps prevent customs delays, holds, or returns.

If You Are Unsure About the Materials

Blackship cannot determine or verify the material composition of your items. If you are unsure, you must contact the manufacturer or seller directly to obtain accurate product information before completing your customs declaration.

Important: Customs Responsibility

Blackship cannot provide customs advice or determine what information is required for your destination country.

If you are unsure how to declare your item, you should contact your local customs office directly for guidance. Customs regulations vary by country, and it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all declarations are accurate and compliant.

Providing clear and accurate material descriptions helps reduce the risk of customs delays or issues with your shipment.
