Required information when using Japan Post to Brazil
When shipping to Brazil using any Japan Post method, additional item details are mandatory. This information ensures your package is processed smoothly through Brazilian customs. Failing to provide accurate details can result in long delays, package returns, or even confiscation.
Important Note: Blackship cannot assist with sourcing this information for your items. If you cannot or prefer not to provide these details, please select FedEx or DHL as your shipping method during checkout.
What Information is Required?
When selecting a Japan Post shipping method during checkout, you will be prompted with an "Additional Customs Details" screen. You must provide the following information for each item in your package, written entirely in English characters:
Full name of the item
Manufacturer's name
Country of manufacture
Manufacturer's address
Item URL (For Blackship internal verification only; this is not sent to Japan Post or customs)
How to Find the Required Information
While we cannot find this information for you, here is a guide to help you locate the necessary details on Japanese storefronts:
1. Full Name of the Item
This is typically found on the original product page.
Character Limit: Please keep this under 40 characters.
Sensitive Items: If the item name contains words that may be considered offensive, sensitive, or controversial, please use a generic description instead (e.g., instead of a graphic title, write "Self-published fan book").
2. Manufacturer's Name
You can usually find the manufacturer listed on the product page under terms like "メーカー" (Maker), "ブランド" (Brand), "出版社" (Publisher), "製造者" (Manufacturer), or "製作者" (Producer).
Tip: Use Ctrl + F (or Cmd + F) to search for these Japanese terms on the page.
Large Retailers: On sites like Amazon or Rakuten, the manufacturer is often included directly in the item's title.
Fallback: If all else fails, you can use the name of the website where you purchased the item. If you are unsure of their legal company type, select the default option in the drop-down menu.
3. Country of Manufacture
Look for the term "原産国" (Country of Origin) on the product page.
Fallback: If you absolutely cannot find this information, it is generally safe to input "Japan." However, it is always best to match the country to the Manufacturer's Address you provide.
4. Manufacturer's Address
Once you have the manufacturer's name, you can search for their address using a search engine by typing the name followed by "住所" (Address).
Company Websites: The address is almost always listed on the manufacturer's official website under the "特定商取引法" (Specified Commercial Transactions Act) section, which is usually linked in the site's footer.
Tax Registry: You can also search the Japanese tax registry database for tax-registered businesses (like Uniqlo) to find their official corporate address.
5. Item URL
Simply copy and paste the URL of the product page from your browser's address bar.
If the item was not purchased from a standard online storefront, please provide a URL that clearly shows the item's details and a photo.
Tip: "I can't read Japanese!"
If you are having trouble navigating Japanese websites to find this information, we highly recommend using translation tools like Google Translate, DeepL, or ChatGPT. These tools can help you translate entire webpages to locate the required details and translate the Japanese manufacturer information into the required English characters.
