Account & Signing Up

How much does Blackship cost?
Our basic pricing includes a $1 receiving fee for every package that arrives at our warehouse, plus the final international shipping fee.

  • You can estimate your shipping rates anytime using our Shipping Calculator.

  • We also offer various optional add-ons, such as package consolidation, extended storage, and priority processing. You can read more about these on our services guide.

How do I sign up with Blackship?

  1. Create an Account: Sign up at Blackship.com using your name, email, and a secure password.

  2. Verify Your Identity: Upload a government-issued ID and a valid proof of address. You can find more details on accepted documents in our guide on Signing Up with Blackship.

  3. Get Approved: Account approvals are typically completed within one business day. Once approved, you will receive your Japanese address and can start shipping packages internationally!

Do you support phone verification?
No, we cannot assist with SMS or phone verification codes required by certain websites. While you are welcome to use our warehouse landline number to fill out standard address forms, it cannot be used to receive verification calls or texts.

If a site strictly requires phone verification (e.g., Yahoo Auctions, Mercari, Melonbooks, Pokémon Center), we highly recommend using our sister service, Japan Rabbit. They can place the order on your behalf, and once the item arrives at the warehouse, the package can be transferred directly to your Blackship mailbox for free.

How do I delete my account?
If you would like to delete your account, please contact our support team directly at help@blackship.com. We will confirm your request and process the account deletion securely.

Using Blackship

How do I use Blackship?

  1. Sign up for a free account and receive your unique Japanese shipping address.

  2. Shop online at your favorite Japanese stores and enter your Blackship address at checkout.

  3. Once your packages arrive at our warehouse, you'll receive an email from us and a notification in the app. From your dashboard, you can then request international shipping, package consolidation, or any of our additional services.

Can you move a package to another Blackship mailbox?
Yes, we can transfer a package to another Blackship user's mailbox. Please note that a $5 handling fee applies to this service and will be billed to the recipient. To request a transfer, please reach out to our support team at help@blackship.com and provide the relevant package number and destination mailbox ID.

Can you dispose of some items from my package?
Yes! When requesting shipment, you can leave a shipping note at step 3 of checkout asking us to dispose of certain unwanted items, such as promotional flyers, heavy catalogs, or bulky original retail boxes.

Shipping Methods

What shipping methods do you offer?
We currently support shipping via DHL, FedEx, EMS, and Japan Post. The specific methods available to you at checkout will depend on your package's size, weight, contents and final destination.

Why are some shipping methods not available for my package?
Certain shipping options may be grayed out or unavailable during checkout due to:

  • Carrier-specific restrictions or suspensions.

  • The type of items inside the package (e.g., restricted goods, batteries, liquids).

  • Import rules and regulations of your destination country.

  • Package size or weight limits exceeding the carrier's maximum allowances.

Do you support COD (Cash on Delivery)?
Yes, we can accept Cash on Delivery (COD) shipments on your behalf. Please refer to our detailed help article regarding COD limits and associated handling fees.

Address & Profile Management

How do I add a new delivery address?
You can add a new destination address by navigating to your Blackship account dashboard (profile icon at the top right), clicking on "My addresses," and selecting "Add New Address."

Important Note on Secondary Addresses:
To protect against fraud, you must complete at least one successful shipment to your primary, verified address before you can ship anywhere else. Once that initial shipment is complete, you are free to add new addresses to your address book and ship to them without needing further verification!
