What Services Does Blackship Provide?

At Blackship, we help you receive, store, consolidate, pack, and ship your Japanese purchases safely and efficiently worldwide.

Core Services

Receiving

Once you sign up, you receive your own Japanese shipping address. You can use this address when ordering from Japanese online stores.

Please include your mailbox number (K followed by 6 digits, for example, K123456) on the shipping label exactly as shown in your account when placing orders.

Each mailbox number is unique and is how we assign packages to the correct account, so please be sure to use your specific mailbox number and do not forget to include it.

You can find your mailbox number on your “My Addresses” page in the top right drop-down menu of your account.

Note: For proxy purchasing, our sister service Japan Rabbit provides dedicated purchasing services. We do not offer proxy purchasing at Blackship.

Shipping

We offer multiple international shipping methods, including:

  • DHL

  • FedEx

  • Japan Post (Not currently available for USA shipments)

You can use our Shipping Calculator at any time to estimate shipping costs.

Please note that some items may require carrier approval (for example, liquids, oils, or ink products requiring SDS documentation). Please see our Prohibited Items list for more details.

Consolidation (From Your Mailbox)

Consolidation allows you to combine multiple packages into one shipment. It costs $3 per package selected (this can go down depending on your Rewards Plan level) and is a great way to ship all of your items simultaneously and reduce shipping costs.

How to consolidate:

  1. Go to your Mailbox.

  2. Select the packages you want to combine.

  3. Click “Consolidate.”

We remove excess packaging and securely repack items to reduce shipping size and cost unless you later choose to keep the original box during checkout.

There is no limit to how many packages you can select for consolidation. However, we may not be able to fit all selected items into a single box due to carrier weight and size limits. If that happens, we will consolidate the packages that can safely fit together and return the remaining packages to your mailbox.

Storage

We offer free storage for a limited period.

After the free storage period ends, paid storage applies according to the package volume:

Once both free and paid storage periods have been used, the item will be marked as abandoned and disposed of. Please note that disposed packages cannot be retrieved, so be sure to ship your items before the storage period ends.


Special Requests (Found on the Package Details Screen)

Special Requests are available on the right-hand side of each package’s detail page. These requests apply to a single package and must be submitted before requesting shipping.

Photo Request

Request additional photos of:

  • Items inside your package

  • Serial numbers

  • Lottery codes

  • Product condition

How to request:

  1. Open the package.

  2. Click “Request” next to Photo Request.

  3. Provide clear instructions.

Photos will be uploaded to your package profile page.

Each photo request includes up to 5 photos, so please describe clearly and specifically what you would like photographed in the notes.

Split Request

Separate one package into multiple new packages.

How to request:

  1. Open the package detail screen.

  2. Click “Request” next to Split Request.

  3. Clearly explain how you would like the contents divided.

Once completed, each new package can be shipped separately.

For a split request, the first new package created is charged at $6, and each additional new package created in the same split request is charged at $3.

For example, splitting one package into three total packages creates two new packages, so the total split fee would be $9.

This is useful for dropshipping or shipping to multiple addresses (after completing your first shipment to your verified address).

Dispose Package

Request disposal of a package if you no longer wish to ship it.

This permanently discards the package.

Warning: This action cannot be undone, and your items cannot be retrieved once they have been disposed of.


Packing Options (Step 3 of Checkout)

Packing options are selected during Step 3 of checkout when submitting a shipping request.

Please note that pricing varies depending on your Rewards Plan level. Please refer to our Pricing Guide for full details.

Extra Padding

Left: Standard padding / Right: Extra padding

Adds additional bubble wrap and cushioning for fragile items such as glass, pottery, or collectibles.

Fragile Sticker

  • Adds “Fragile” labeling to your package.

Invoice Removal

  • Removes sales invoices before shipment.

Remove Branding

  • Ships your package without Blackship-branded tape.

Remove Price Tags

  • Removes visible price stickers from items before shipping. Please note that this is charged per price tag removed, and the final cost will be reflected after all tags have been removed and counted.

Discreet Packaging

  • Conceals contents in a sealed opaque pouch for added privacy.

K-POP Processing

  • Special handling for K-POP merchandise. You can read more about it here and here.

Vacuum Packing

  • Reduces package size for soft goods such as plushies, jackets, or apparel.

  • You can read more about our available vacuum packs here.

  • Please note that the final price will be reflected after the task is completed, as the cost depends on the size and number of vacuum packs used.

Keep Original Box

  • Preserves the original external shipping box.

  • By default, we remove original shipping boxes to reduce shipping size and cost. If selected, we will retain the original box and double-box it for protection.

  • Please note that this can significantly increase shipping costs, as we always double-box original packaging to meet international shipping standards. Most retail shipping boxes are not designed for safe international transit, so additional outer protection is required.

  • If you would prefer that we ship the item in the original box without double-boxing, please add a shipping note during checkout. However, please be aware that this may void insurance claims, as the package would not be packed according to international shipping protection standards.

  • Note: As a forwarding service, we are required to open and inspect all packages for prohibited or hazardous items before resealing them.

Priority Processing

  • Moves your request to the front of the processing queue. Please note that this does not guarantee same-day or next-day shipping; it simply places your request ahead of all non-priority requests.


Important Notes

  • All packages are inspected for prohibited or hazardous items.

  • Some items may require additional documentation such as SDS.

  • Carrier-specific limitations may apply depending on item type and destination.

  • Once packed, packages cannot be consolidated further.
